About Us

Easton Country Club has been a family owned and operated golf course since its beginning.  The Lombardi family originally owned about half of what is currently the golf course as a dairy farm. In the late 1950s and early 1960s, as small dairy farms struggled, the Lombardis explored alternative business uses for land, eventually deciding on the game of golf.  In 1961, the locally well-known golf architect Sam Mitchell was hired to design and build nine holes which officially opened in 1962.

A few years later, some farmland which abutted the course became available for sale.  Once again, Sam Mitchell was hired, and the second nine was added.  By 1969, Easton Country Club was an 18-hole golf course offering a weekday green fee of $3.00 and a weekend fee of $5.00!  As business expanded so too did the buildings.  The clubhouse was added onto to allow for a comfortable full outing banquet.  Tennis courts came along in the 70’s including a bubble for year-round play.  A formal banquet venue eventually replaced the tennis courts in 2000.  Now, Easton Country Club boasts one of the best public fee golf courses in the area, perfect for golfers of all abilities, and outings of all sizes and also the perfect setting for gatherings for all occasions.

Nature & Wildlife

The golf course itself provides a sanctuary for a variety of birds and other wildlife.  Most noticeable are the Purple Martins, which migrate from South America to North America every year in order to breed.  On the 10th hole, you can see both the gourd rack and the Purple Martin “condominium” which serves as housing for the Martins while they visit the club.  As amazing as their trek from Brazil to the U.S. is, even more impressive it that the same Martins will reunite with the same colony each year as evidenced by the tagging of these birds.

At night, the course takes on a completely different look as our nocturnal friends come out to play.  Don’t be surprised if you happen to see a few white tail deer cross your path as you attempt to get nine in before dusk.  But stay clear of the Fisher Cat and the resident snapping turtles as you might be better off forgetting about your errant shots that land in the water!  The coyotes that come out on a full moon night during the Fall and Winter months add a whole new level to the environment as well.
